My name is James. From August 2022, I will be an Assistant Professor (Professorial Track) in Comparative Politics & International Relations at the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU).


I am an Adjunct Lecturer (Professor) on the MSSc in Greater China Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I am also a Senior Research Fellow at CARR and a Research Fellow at both the Global Europe Centre (University of Kent/Brussels School of International Studies) and at the Center for Research & Social Progress in Italy. ​

Recently, I was awarded both the the prestigious CUHK Vice-Chancellor's Exemplary Teaching Award (2021) alongside the CUHK Faculty of Social Sciences Exemplary Teaching Award (2021). I was Ranked First in the Faculty of Social Sciences at CUHK for my outstanding teaching in 2021.

I research comparative party politics and political behavior (populism and right-wing party competition on immigration) in contemporary European politics, primarily through the use of expert surveys, public opinion surveys, Manifesto Data, and case study analysis.
